EMOTIONAL WELLBEING AND STRESS MANAGEMENT

 

Student wellbeing encompasses the overall health of a student, including their social, mental, physical, and emotional health. Enjoyment and satisfaction with life are inextricably tied to student well-being. In a nutshell, student wellbeing is the way they perceive themselves and their life. Supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students at school provides a strong foundation for academic achievement as well as positive intrapersonal and interpersonal long-term outcomes. The board examination is round the corner and fear of not performing well causes great anxiety among the students. It is important for students to be in a calm state of mind and to deal with any emotion that may be causing distress, during examination. To overcome the stress and anxiety caused during exams and competitions, an interactive workshop on stress management and exam anxiety was organised on 12th January 2024 for students of Grade X and XII. 

 The objective of the workshop was to equip the young aspirants of X and XII with the skills and strategies to manage exam stress, educate them in  various ways with which they can deal with the stress and most importantly, be at ease and confident for the upcoming board examination. 

While addressing the students, Dr. Preeti said that anxiety is a part of human nature, but it is important to know how to overcome it. In the interactive session, she talked about the types of stress and how to deal with them by giving real life examples, to help students relate and understand. She also emphasized on the stress relaxation therapies like practicing yoga, walking and any other recreational activities                                . 

She dealt at length with the ‘three Ps i.e. Planning, Preparation and Practice to help overcome any challenges and highlighted the importance of being organised in life with a well-defined goal. 

She explained the students about the stress management, she said that the students should always share their problems with someone they trust. She also suggested them to be interactive during the session and ask questions fearlessly.

The students shared their issues with regards to concentration and focus and got their questions effectively answered. This session, thus provided an opportunity to share and practice how to prevent and manage the stress during examination. The session came to an end and helped the students in generating self-awareness and positivity among them and deals with exam stress like winners. A note to parents and students was also sent regarding counselling and wellbeing of the students.
