Observance of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’

Substance abuse and illicit trafficking have come out as two major challenges worldwide today. Starting early and educating children about the risks and consequences of substance use and abuse is crucial in promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. Government of India has adopted a vision for a ‘DRUG FREE INDIA’ which reiterates India’s resolve to fight against the use of drugs and eradicate the menace of substance abuse form the society. In continuation with the same, on account of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ observed on 26 June 2023, the following online programs/ competitions were organized by Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar for students  of classes IX to XII  from 12 June to 26 June 2023:

  • An e-pledge campaign named ‘Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs’
  • Short videos on substance abuse and its consequences
  • A story writing competition
  • A slogan writing competition
  • A poster designing competition on the topic ‘Drug-Free India’

Through these fun, yet meaningful activities and competitions, a deeper understanding of the consequences of drug abuse and the importance of promoting a drug-free environment was grasped. The event also served as an excellent platform to foster creativity while spreading a critical message to combat substance abuse.
