Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar, celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day on Friday, 21 June 2024, with great enthusiasm and participation from parents, teachers, and students. The event, held at Salwan School Greens, centered around the year’s theme, “Women Empowerment through Yoga,” highlighting the significant benefits of yoga in enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of women.
The welcome address was given by Capt. Richa Sharma Katyal, Principal, SPSMV, who emphasised the importance of yoga in promoting overall well-being and empowerment, particularly for women. She encouraged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lives to achieve a harmonious balance of mind and body. The celebration featured impressive performances by the students, demonstrating various yoga asanas and their benefits. After the demonstration, everyone enthusiastically performed different asanas. Sh. Sunil Choudhary, PGT PET, explained the benefits of the asanas in detail and mentioned which asanas should be avoided by individuals with certain health conditions.
The vote of thanks was rendered by Smt. Sunyana Nijhara, who expressed her gratitude to all participants, parents, teachers, and the organising team for making the event a success. She appreciated the students’ dedication and highlighted the collaborative effort that made the celebration memorable. Following the yoga session, light refreshments were served, providing an opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to interact and share their experiences.
Overall, the 10th International Yoga Day celebration at Salwan Public School was a great success, embodying the spirit of yoga and its empowering impact on women.
