The inauguration of 2nd world class exhibition ‘The Strokes of a Genius’ hosted by Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar – III took place at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts on 6th April 2010.  The school was honoured to have Mr. Vineet Joshi, IAS, Chairman CBSE as the Chief Guest and Mr. P. Krishna Murthy, IAS, Director o Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi as the Guest of Honour.  This was followed by a two day conference on 6th & 7th April 2010 – where there were renowned pedagogists and educationists of International fame as Guest speakers to express their views on the trends of Early Childhood Education.  Dr. Venita Kaul, Director Centre for Early childhood Education and Development, Ambedkar University threw light on different issues of Early Childhood Education. 

Dr. Abha Adams, Educational Consultant spoke on ‘De School’, Dr. Anju Khanna, Managing Adviser, Early Childcare and Education, Delhi shared her ideas on Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Education.  Ms. Asha Das, Former Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment enlightened on various Early childhood Development Programmes.  Dr. Bindu Rana, Programme Director (Research), Educomp Solutions Ltd., presented her views on curriculum child and social changes.  This rare Exhibition – a blend of fine work of Art, vividly captured in 142 panels together with the Art and craft work – a revelation of child’s world is being put up on display from 6th April to 30th April 2010.  It is a two years painstaking effort dedicated to the creative team of Early Childhood facilitators of Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar who have toiled day and night to make this world class exhibition possible.

Of all the sights which can soften and humanize the heart of man, there is none that ought so surely to reach it as that of innocent children, enjoying the happiness which is their proper and natural portion. We are reminded of a poem, so close to my heart of a child’s wish. It goes like this:


Well, we have captured some of these moments in an exhibition, “The Strokes of a Genius ” based on the philosophy of Lorris Malaguzi and inspired by the 1st exhibition we had organized “A 100 Languages of Children”, 2008 at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Janpath, New Delhi.

The preview of this fine work of Art, so vividly captured in 142 panels (8’ x 4’) together with the Art and Craft work+ Classroom Architecture would be on display at our school premises from the 5th of January to 28th of February, 2010 and thereafter move to its full glory at the Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts, Janpath, New Delhi from 2nd of April to 30th April, 2010. It would then travel all over India for the next two years to showcase our work.

These two years of painstaking effort in the words of Mr. Inder Dutt (Architect), is dedicated to our creative team of Early Childhood Facilitators who have toiled day and night to make this dream come true.

Yes, it’s truly a magnificent work of Art, both for its Content developed and scalability of its size, the “Time” and “Energy” taken, the “Research” and “Presentation” executed . . . . and above all the “Will” of my ‘Team’ to channelize their energy into creating a product that lays the foundation of our Early Childhood learning centre intellectuality.

We extend an invitation to your goodself and your faculty members, the young parents and the Managing Committee members to witness a historic moment . . . . and in sharing a dialogue on the journey we have taken. The exhibition would be open to the general public from 6th of April 2010 at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Janpath, New Delhi where a two days conference has been planned. Pedagogistas from Italy, Australia, Canada, Sweden and Singapore are expected to come and share their views on the trends of early childhood education.

The school promoted an innovative, unforeseen and unique exhibition on early childhood education, for the first time in Asia,”A Hundred Languages Of Children”, in close collaboration with the Reggio Emilia Institute (Italy), The Reggio Emilia Institute (Australia), The Reggio Institute (Korea) and IGNCA, from 26th March to 9th April 2008 at the Indira Gandhi National Center for Arts, Mansingh Road, New Delhi.



The program started with a two days long conference wherein many schools participated and this was followed by the exhibition till 9th April 2008. The workshop/ exhibition was Inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Ms. Shiela Dixit, in the presence of Mr. Ghare khan admist a number of dignitaries. The Chief Minister congratulated the Salwan Education Trust for the brilliant effort. Over 18000 Teachers, Parents, Administrators, Principals and people from all walks of life visited the exhibition.

This exhibition was extremely innovative right from the beginning. It was presented as a "narrative of the possible", giving visibility to processes and life situations that cannot be linked to standard pedagogical models, pre-constituted education assumptions, theoretical certainties, or generalizable practice. Rather, the experience was based on incessant research and action that take place with a chorus of many voices, many hands, and much intelligence, the center of which was the image of a child who is competent in building knowledge and a constant seeker of meanings.

We are delightful of the "innovative" changes this exhibition will bring during the coming years in the way exhibitions are conceptualized, planned and exhibited including the pedagogical approach in early childhood education.
