Exclusive sports workshop at Bal Bharti Auditorium, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, 18th April, 2010
 
 
On 18th April, 2010 Salwan Public School Mayur Vihar III hosted an exclusive sports workshop at Bal Bharti Auditorium, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, Delhi.  It was chaired by Dr. Bhartinder Singh (Chief Medical Officer of the Commonwealth Games), Dr. D.R. Saini Principal DPS R.K. Puram and member organizing Committee Commonwealth Games, Mr. Sehgal Principal Bal Bharti School, Dr. Leena Chatterjee from Religare Laboratories, Mr. Nigel Bruce Hetherington the Former Performance Development Manager for Scottish Athletics and Active Level 4 Performance coach and senior coach tutor/assessor trainer for U.K. Athletics, Dr. Sanjiv Sahni Ph.d in Child Bala Dala- Astt Director of Education. The event comment with the presentation of a documentary on Salwan Marathon.  Later, 15 visually impaired girls were felicitated with computers by our honorable guests.  Dr. D.R. Saini (Principal DPS R.K. Puram) our first speaker of the day spoke, on “Current State of Sports in School” and the need to have a structured sports curriculum for professional growth of Physical Instructors.

Dr. Leena Chatterjee, our next speaker gave an invaluable insight on the “Gene Test for Children”.

Dr. Sanjiv Sahni gave his views on Child Psychology and Sports.

Mr. Nigel Hetherington held an intensive session on creating a Sport Curriculum for school and stressed on the need to have a balance of Physical Literacy, Physical Education and Physical Activity.  He shared useful pointers on how to overcome current challenges in sports.  He stressed on setting up short term and ling term goals. So as to set a benchmark in the field of sports in the years to come.The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr.  Inder Dutt Salwan, who answered all queries relevant to the future of Sports in Schools.

This interactive workshop will surely go a long way in inspiring the Physical instructors to move forward with perseverance and to illuminate the path of our young budding talents with true Sportsmanship.  As is rightly said by Mahatma Gandhi – “Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down”.  So march on the road of success even though they may be fraught with challenges and hardships, cause, only a striving spirit eventually triumphs.

The inauguration of 2nd world class exhibition ‘The Strokes of a Genius’ hosted by Salwan Public School, Mayur Vihar – III took place at Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts on 6th April 2010.  The school was honoured to have Mr. Vineet Joshi, IAS, Chairman CBSE as the Chief Guest and Mr. P. Krishna Murthy, IAS, Director o Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi as the Guest of Honour.

Education - " The Strokes of a Genius " : 5th Jan to 28th Feb 2010 and April 2010 .
 
 
The preview of fine work of Art, so vividly captured in 142 panels (8’ x 4’) together with the Art and Craft work + Classroom Architecture would be on display at our school premises from the 5th of January to 28th of February, 2010 and thereafter move to its full glory at the Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts, Janpath, New Delhi from 2nd of April to 30th April, 2010. It would then travel all over India for the next two years to showcase our work.

13th ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATED : 21st Nov, 2009
 
 
The effort, the hard work, the determination of the students came alive on the stage, portraying the famous Russian Ballet from Bolshoi’s Theatre ‘The Swan Lake’ on 21st November 2009 on its 13th Annual Day Celebrations.  The remarkable performance by the children was highly appreciated which cost a magic spell and took one and all to the land of fantasy. read more

Salwan Marathon was successfully held on 8th Nov, 2009. More than 42,000 students participated from all over India. The whole event was viewed by over 1 Crore people from all over India and Abroad.
