With the changing trends in education industry and to get in pace with the latest technologies and emerging methodologies of teaching we introduced technology in classrooms for Primary and Middle Wing.
The objective to opt such technologies was to help out teachers teach better and students learn better, thus taking the overall performance of the school to higher levels. It had also provided an integrated teaching and learning environment through interactive Computer aided teaching (CAT) and Computer aided learning (CAL).

Trip to NASA : 20 students from our school have been nominated for the space centre (NASA) for a 9 day trip. It is a strong education programme which believes in space faring civilization and focusing the enthusiasm of young generation to create a new human race.
Under Leh Disaster Management program 4 students and 2 teachers would visit Leh to support the victims and experience the implementation of Disaster Management in real life situtation.
Participation in CWG : 300 students of our school are all gewared up to participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of CWG 2010. The performance is choreographed by Shamak Davar.

The school sent 7 students and 2 teachers to Shanghai and Beijing in China from 11th Aug 2010 to 17th Aug 2010. This educational trip besides enriching the students knowledge beyond the confines of classrooms lectures, gave them an exposure for the first time to see the buildings and structures of various architectural styles that will define human living/ behaviour / architecture during the next decade.
The aim was to achieve knowledge about better living and more sustainable urban living conditions. The parameter aims and objectives of the Tour included :
a. Blending of diverse culture in the city.
b. Economic prosperity in the city
c. Innovation of science & technology in the city.
d. Remodeling of communities.
e. Interaction between urban and rural areas.

Redefining of Sports Curriculum

Mr. Nigel Bruce Hetherington of UK (Sports Consultant, Head Athletics Coach at Singapore Sports Academy) visited India in the month of April 2010 to were availed by the School for devising the Sports curriculum for all classes of the institution and ensuring accountability of PET’s.
To pursue the above said programme Mr. David Wynn Murrie of Professor of Physical Education, Trainer of International Sports Coaches U.K. was invited to Salwan Mayur Vihar for further development of Sports curriculum and training of physical Education teachers in various games & sports. .

A team of 27 Physical Instructors of Salwan Schools was sent for Trekking/ Mountaineering expedition to Badrinath & Hemkunt Sahib. Its aim was to provide in-service training to our physical instructors so that they could mould the children and create a spirit of adventure and confidence in them.

On 18th April, 2010 Salwan Public School Mayur Vihar III hosted an exclusive sports workshop at Bal Bharti Auditorium, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, Delhi. It was chaired by Dr. Bhartinder Singh (Chief Medical Officer of the Commonwealth Games), Dr. D.R. Saini Principal DPS R.K. Puram and member organizing Committee Commonwealth Games, Mr. Sehgal Principal Bal Bharti School, Dr. Leena Chatterjee from Religare Laboratories, Mr. Nigel Bruce Hetherington the Former Performance Development Manager for Scottish Athletics and Active Level 4 Performance coach and senior coach tutor/assessor trainer for U.K. Athletics, Dr. Sanjiv Sahni Ph.d in Child Bala Dala- Astt Director of Education.
The event comment with the presentation of a documentary on Salwan Marathon. Later, 15 visually impaired girls were felicitated with computers by our honorable guests. Dr. D.R. Saini (Principal DPS R.K. Puram) our first speaker of the day spoke, on “Current State of Sports in School” and the need to have a structured sports curriculum for professional growth of Physical Instructors.
Dr. Leena Chatterjee, our next speaker gave an invaluable insight on the “Gene Test for Children”.
Dr. Sanjiv Sahni gave his views on Child Psychology and Sports.
Mr. Nigel Hetherington held an intensive session on creating a Sport Curriculum for school and stressed on the need to have a balance of Physical Literacy, Physical Education and Physical Activity. He shared useful pointers on how to overcome current challenges in sports. He stressed on setting up short term and ling term goals. So as to set a benchmark in the field of sports in the years to come.The workshop concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Inder Dutt Salwan, who answered all queries relevant to the future of Sports in Schools.
This interactive workshop will surely go a long way in inspiring the Physical instructors to move forward with perseverance and to illuminate the path of our young budding talents with true Sportsmanship. As is rightly said by Mahatma Gandhi –
“Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down”.
So march on the road of success even though they may be fraught with challenges and hardships, cause, only a striving spirit eventually triumphs.
