Sports Adventure

And this is what these Leadership Camps are all about. These leadership Camps are organized every year in close collaboration with The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (Uttarkashi), The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Darjeeling) or even the Infantry Directorate of the Indian Army which in return remove the fear from the child's mind and encourage them to ask- was that really me?.

Close Quarter Combat, Tent Pitching, Night Trekking at high altitudes, River Crossing, Target Shooting, Sand Model displays, Rafting, Environmental Studies and building "Team Spirit" is what these camps offer. And we believe they add strength and substance to our student's life. Our students will not shirk from the unknown in fear, but embrace change with a consummate faith in the deepest principles of existence. Living on the edge, leading from the edge, they respond to uncertainty by joyously seeking their balance in dynamic interaction with the challenges of life.

With the objective of developing leadership qualities, including survival skills and instilling a sense of adventure in the students .Salwan Public School,MV-III organized a one day Adventure camp on february 1,2014 at Dhauj,Faridabad for classes VI to X.

The camp was specially designed for the students to bring into them a sense of responsibility, adventure, togetherness and independence. It included a host of activities like Rapplling, cat crawl, swinging ladder,Burma Bridge. Although the camp featured age appropriate activities, students were challenged both physically and mentally. They also got an idea on various survival techniques during calamities and disasters. The safety of the students had been taken into account and they were supervised by the experts.

Over 360 students participated in the camp with loads of zeal and enthusiasm and displayed tremendous confidence, determination ,will power and vigour. The event provides a rare opportunity to the students to test as well as develop their drive ,resolve and panache for adventure. The participation and extraordinary response of the students, including the tiny tots of class I, provided a testimony to the fact the event was a mega successful one. It was an experience which students are likely to remember for a long time.

This trekking expedition from Delhi to Base Camp Mt.Everest, was planned for a dedicated Salwanian Team, that will defined the future of adventure sports in our institution for years to come. The main aim was to inculcate a spirit of adventure and courage amongst the next generation of physical instructors/teachers.

To inculcate the spirit of adventure and courage amongst the new generation, our dare devils went for River Rafting in the turbulent waters of river Ganges. The objective of this leadership camp was to test the grit & courage - to master ourselves before mastering others - learning beyond text books to instill a sense of determination - to bring the learning process to our school campus.

Students went to Rajgarh in Himanchal Pradesh on a trekking trip. They visited Bodhisattva Camp in District Surmour which happens to be about 40 km from Solan off the National Highway 35. At Bodhisatva it was a new experience for them to learn the basics of rock climbing, holds & grips, rappelling and trekking. Students were involved in activities like treasure hunt and rope puzzles. On the subtle end they also realized the importance of planning, co-ordination, patience, listening and motivational values in a team.

Sensitizing young minds about the diversity of nature around us is very important. Keeping this in mind the school organized a trip to Binsar, Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttaranchal. The trip to Binsar was an adventurous one.The trip included visit to Binsar temple, trekking, nature walk etc. The children had a great time and they also learnt that life can also be enjoyed without T.V, computer etc.

It was summer holidays. It was a fun time. Our students along with teachers reached their campsite at Potter's Hill, Shimla. On the first morning they were made to exercise and went for trekking and explored various flora of the region... pines... cone and needle shaped leaves... and a tree house. They were "taught the art of surviving in the jungle without the comforts of life".

A team of 10 students went on an adventurous trip to Manali during their summer vacations. The students trekked to Solang Valley, Dhundhi, Kothi and also visited Rohtang Pass. The trip of 15 days saw students doing rappelling, rock-climbing, self-cooking, local site-seeing, river crossing etc.

They enjoyed during their one night stay at Chauki Dhani in Jaipur. It was a traditional Rajasthani resort where children learnt about the culture of Rajasthan.
